Introducing the 2026-2027 Season!

Every song, every memory, every dream begins with a story. Stories connect us across generations, reveal who we are, challenge what we believe, and remind us that every voice matters. This season celebrates the courage to be seen, the power of human connection, and the enduring truth that theatre helps us understand one another. Because when we share our stories, we discover we’re never truly alone.

Souvenir: A Fantasia On the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins

Nov. 28, 2026 – Jan. 10, 2027

Written by Stephen Temperley

Directed by Cameron Turner

Theo opens its 2026-2027 season with a proper hand-off of a legacy through this endearing, music-filled tribute of a remarkable individual who dared to pursue joy despite criticism.

Meet Florence Foster Jenkins—the socialite turned opera singer with a voice like no other! Based on the true story of one of history’s most delightfully off-key performers, Souvenir is a heartwarming and hilarious look at the power of passion, friendship, and the courage to follow your dreams—no matter how they sound.

Inspired by the same story that created the hit movie starring Meryl Streep, “Florence Foster Jenkins,” this two-hander musical odd-couple offers up charm, heart, and plenty of high notes.

SOUVENIR is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service. www.concordtheatricals.com

Violet

Jan. 29 – Mar. 7, 2027

Book & Lyrics by Brian Crawley
Music by Jeanine Tesori
Based on The Ugliest Pilgrim by Doris Bettes

Directed by Joseph C. Walsh

Join us on the Greyhound bus as we take a theatrical journey from North Carolina to Oklahoma in 1964. A musical that continues to astound critics and audiences alike, Producing Artistic Director, Joseph Walsh makes his Theo directorial debut with a production sure to leave your heart lifted and your toes tapping.

The namesake of the musical, Violet, has lived her whole life with a visible scar across her face following an accident as a child. Having saved enough money to travel for the healing touch of a TV evangelist she is certain will make her beautiful, we watch her pilgrimage bring her face-to-face with two soldiers and scars that run much deeper. Set to a musical landscape of show-stopping gospel anthems, country, blues, and honky-tonk rock music, the trio’s journey becomes a rollicking ride through love, growth, and self-discovery.

Violet is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Once On this Island

Apr. 16 – May 30, 2027

Book & Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Music by Stephen Flaherty
Based on My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy

Directed by Daryl D. Brooks

From the award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Seussical, Anastasia), Theo welcomes audiences to explore why we tell the story.

The Olivier Award-winning Once On This Island follows Ti Moune, a peasant girl, as she rescues Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, and their love sparks a high-stakes divide with the gods. So begins a thought-provoking heroine’s journey of class and racial divide, joy, sorrow, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

Adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid and Rosa Guy’s novel My Love, My Love, this family-friendly bounteous musical celebration stands tall honoring the ways storytelling preserves culture, hope, love, and resilience.

Once on this Island is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
